“My favorite part about the College Essay Advising process was not feeling overwhelmed. You made the process smooth but also fun. There was honestly never a time in a meeting or when I was writing essays when I felt like I was wasting my time. I think what worked well was how you planned out the meetings, very organized, and without lots of fluff. You kept it real; I liked my first Common App essay, but you were honest about it and thought it should go in another direction. That worked perfectly, and now I am going to USC.”

College Essay Advising was really helpful because having a structured schedule with due dates was great for me. You showed me the fun side of writing college essays and how to actively write so that admissions would get the most important information out of my essays. I appreciated the tough love which kept me on track because sometimes I lacked self-discipline. Thank you for everything!

I loved how there was always constant feedback on my writing. And it went much deeper than just small grammatical tweaks that you’d get from your school counselor. The brainstorming, writing help, and admissions strategy allowed me to gain more confidence in my writing. The process also helped me relieve a lot of stress and encouraged me to reflect on why I’d want to go to that school in the first place. I appreciate that you always went above and beyond to help make my writing the best it could be; there wasn’t a single essay submitted that was so-so. I never thought getting into so many schools would be possible.

My favorite part was NOT having to worry about ensuring my daughter got her essays done.  Geanine is a "teen whisperer."  My daughter listened and executed.  She had a lot of applications and was able to get these done with Geanine's help in a timely manner.

Geanine knows what she is doing and how to help your teen "brand" him/herself.  That branding is critical to the overall process and helps your student dig deep into who they are. The admissions landscape has changed from when we as parents were applying and you need Geanine because she knows and understands the new world!

I like that you took the time to get to know my son and discussed which prompts were best to answer, what schools want to know about a candidate, and ideas for essay topics. Your review of the essays was substantive and went well beyond superficial review for grammar and typos. You pay attention to the story the students are telling about themselves, and how well they are getting that story across to the reader.

My favorite part of the program was that you met regularly with my son and put him on a schedule for his essay writing, and held him accountable for showing up and completing his drafts on time and producing strong essays and applications.

I definitely would recommend College Essay Advising to friends — and I’ve already done so!

The best part of the process was your candor and directness with my daughter, ensuring that she bought into the process. You lit a needed spark in her that stayed lit for the entire process. Although our daughter is self-motivated, she hit a wall and you helped her break through it. You also provided a framework of success for her and for us as parents.

This is the best money that I have spent on my child’s education. Geanine’s marketing background was an invaluable piece in helping to tell our child’s story in the most persuasive manner. The College Essay Advising process was a burden lifted – knowing that one of the most critical pieces of our daughter’s secondary school process was in the hands of someone who is outstanding. Your timely session summaries made me feel part of the process.

The landscape has changed immensely since my husband and I applied to and attended college. The pandemic further complicated things and I quickly realized that we were out of our depth trying to provide guidance and counsel to our daughter.

Constructive criticism coming from someone other than a parent is a wonderful thing. Working with you relieved some stress because we trusted that you were well-versed in the application process across the board -- public, private and otherwise. The both of you worked well together, and it was great that I didn't have to manage this process. My favorite thing: when I had a question or concern, I could just say "Ask Geanine about XX the next time you meet with her."  Bam. Done. I didn't have to research it or follow up, and whatever it may have been, it was always addressed.

"I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all you did for the girls. Without you, we would have been lost. Creating the list of schools was my favorite part because you took the girls through a process of self-reflection and information gathering to identify objective criteria for their dream school. You helped them identify the ones that were most appropriate to apply to and then they went for it! We were 100% certain the girls would land at the exact right place. Your guidance and support made all the difference in the world. Thank you!"

I would without a doubt recommend College Essay Advising. It made a world of difference in my college application process. It may seem daunting on your own but having someone like Ms. Geanine in your corner helping you along the way makes it easier. The first activity after the initial consultation call was enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting to have so much fun engaging with the questions and prompts but I did! It made writing essays so much easier when I could go back and reference that material.

Bouncing ideas around in the College Essay Advising sessions, getting precise feedback on areas to refine was amazing. Ms. Geanine is truly wonderful to work with. She’s easy to talk to, down to earth and is always prepared for meetings. She pours her passion into the sessions and I felt better about my progress after every one. Ms. Geanine truly cares about you. I remember getting emails from my Google Drive account because she was up late in the evening editing my drafts.

Even though there are so many essays to write and review and edit, the College Essay Advising process will help put your mind at ease. Through methodical timelines and careful editing, I promise everything gets done. I give Ms. Geanine 10/10. I can’t imagine what it would have been like without her!

My favorite part of the College Essay Advising process was how I had total control over how my essays turned out. I never felt like the feedback was being sugar-coated. It was always clear, so I knew my essays would be the best they could be. You don’t want to work with someone who isn’t going to tell you if your essays are not going to make the cut. You want someone like Ms. Thompson who is going to be truthful and make sure you are not undervaluing yourself. She always pointed out and explained what could be better in a way that didn’t leave room for doubt. I know my essays were top-notch and I’m a stronger writer than I was before. The college process went well, I had a lot of choices and ended up at exactly the right college for me.

Geanine helped me with several aspects of the college application process including essays, the college list, and how to present myself in a way that colleges want to see. Working with her helped with my anxiety about the college application process. At first, I was stressed about what I wanted, but Geanine made it fun and presented new possibilities for me. I was able to complete the process with a lot more ease and ended up with many schools from which to choose. I’m excited to go to college and confident in my decision. The College Essay Advising process was a lot of work yet Geanine made it exciting. Thank you for your support in this journey.

I remember the stress and anxiety I had during the beginning of my college application process. There were so many variables, sometimes it felt like a game of luck.  What I love about your guidance is you are strategic, extremely knowledgeable about the college admissions process and helped me understand my chances at each school I wanted to apply to. You also pushed me to apply to schools out of my comfort zone and that allowed me to have a lot of options to choose from in the spring!

Geanine sees the uniqueness and potential in a person before they see it within themselves and has this ability to connect with students from all backgrounds and with different personalities. I was able to get accepted to most of the schools on my list, even the highly competitive ones, because Geanine worked with me to create a strong plan. When I became overwhelmed by the process, she was patient. Geanine also encouraged, inspired and pushed me out of my comfort zone. Now, as an undergraduate student I am more confident and comfortable with taking risks.

My daughter wants to go to college but isn’t impressed by all peer pressure around the process. In her words, “it’s annoying and overwhelming.”  Thanks for making it enjoyable for her. “Strong strategic vision, is a compassionate counselor, and advocates tirelessly on behalf of students and families.”

When Geanine initially joined our team, she worked with a cohort of students advising them and helping to execute the strategy, application, and financial aid process. Her results – 100% college acceptance and students thriving in best-fit schools. I was thrilled when Geanine accepted the role of inaugural Director of Game: Plan College. She has a strong strategic vision, is a compassionate counselor, and advocates tirelessly on behalf of students and families. And you can’t argue with her results – acceptances to highly selective colleges, Public Ivies and Seven Sister schools.

“Thanks for allowing us to keep the peace during this process and be his parents.”

We decided to work with you because my son was comfortable talking to you and felt he could ask you anything. Also, he likes that you attended Dartmouth and Duke and he would like to go there, too. We are pleased to see he is doing the things you recommend and love that you challenge him when he wants to procrastinate. Thanks for allowing us to keep the peace during this process and be his parents.
